Landmine blast during ganja raid in Boudh; close shave for 50 forest officials
Boudh: On Sunday, over 50 forest department staff narrowly escaped when seven landmines exploded at Lakadpaju forest in Odisha's Boudh district.
According to sources, a 50-person forest department team was on a mission to eradicate illegal ganja production in the forest. Seven landmines burst one after the other as I crossed the road. The explosion, however, caused no injuries.
Some cables were seized at the scene. However, it is still unclear if the explosions were the work of illegal ganja growers or Maoists.
Notably, the forest service has launched a campaign to eradicate ganja production on hundreds of acres of forest property.
