Government warned vehicle owners on fake website
Bhubaneswar: Authorities in Odisha have issued a warning to car owners about 'fake' websites that promise to offer online registration plate ordering for High Security Registration Plates (HSRP).
According to the authorities, only dealers authorised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) are able to book HSRP online.
To make HSRP reservations, vehicle owners should go to odishatransport.gov.in and click on 'Book HSRP' or go to siam.in. Users will be directed to authorised dealers via these websites. In Odisha, HSRPs cannot be delivered to your home.
For all classes of vintage automobiles registered before to April 1, 2019, the Transport Department has made HSRP affixing mandatory.
Vehicle owners can choose any dealer, location, and date for HSRP affixing. For the first three months, i.e. until August 31, 2022, there will be no penalty for not affixing HSRP.
Prior to April 1, 2019, HSRP was declared required for all new vehicles registered on or after that date. In 24 states, this has already been adopted. So far, more than 22,000 car owners in Odisha have made an online reservation for HSRP affixing.
