State Govt has sent a letter to the centre, alleging that central universities have violated UGC rules
Bhubaneswar: The state government has brought violations of UGC guidelines on PG admission by various Central universities to the attention of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and has requested his action.
Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo wrote to Pradhan on Thursday, saying that the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued a guideline in July 2021 to guarantee a standard academic calendar across the country in light of the COVID-19-related disruption.
All UG Final Year/Final Semester tests must be completed by August 31, enrollment to PG courses must be finalised by September 30, and post-graduate (PG) programmes must begin on October 1.
All UG Final Year/Final Semester examinations in Odisha were finished by August 31 in accordance with the standards, and their results are likely to be revealed by September 15. According to Sahoo, results have already been published in some situations.
Students should have been able to submit their UG Final Year/Final Semester results/mark sheets until the end of September, according to the Central Universities.
“It appears that certain Central institutions departed from the UGC's deadlines and finished their admissions process in August. Odisha students were denied admission since they were unable to submit their UG Final Year/Final Semester mark sheets, according to Sahoo.
“I would like to respectfully request that you please advise such Central Universities to allow students until September end to submit their UG Final Year/ Final Semester mark sheets so that no deserving student is denied admission to Central Universities,” the state minister asked.
