Plus II boy commits suicide after securing low marks in CHSE exam in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A Plus II Science student from the GM College was discovered hanged in the backyard of his home in the Sambalpur district of Odisha's Dhipapada hamlet, which is under the jurisdiction of Burla police.

The deceased, identified as Rohan Kumar Guru, allegedly committed himself later that night as a result of the dismal grades after checking his results, which were published online on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old had received more than 90% of the possible points in his matriculation exam, but his Plus II Board exam score fell below 60%. His family transported him to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, in severe condition after discovering him hanging from an iron rod in the backyard of the house. Doctors there, though, pronounced him dead. His body was afterwards taken for a postmortem.

According to the police, an investigation will determine the precise reason for the incident.

The results for the Science and Commerce streams have been released by the Council for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) of Odisha. 273 students this year received more than 90% in the subject of commerce. The highest pass rate was 100 percent in the Boudh district, and the lowest was 61.53 percent in the Deogarh region. In the Plus II Science stream, 1124 students received more than 90% of the possible points. The first division was won by 50157 students, the second division went to 14932 students, and the third division went to 6910 students.
