Odisha Vigilance arrests a Tehsildar and seizes five different PAN cards
Puri: The Nimapada tehsildar was apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday, and over Rs 5 lakh in cash was recovered from him. He had five separate PAN cards with various numbers in his hands.
Officials from the Vigilance Department have stated that they will request an investigation from the Income-Tax (I-T) authorities.
Jena has already been involved in two Vigilance cases. One involved land settlement and the issuance of patta. The chargesheet has been submitted, and the trial is scheduled to begin soon. The other instance involves the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural property without permission.
The Vigilance team apprehended Rama Chandra Jena, tehasildar and in-charge sub-registrar, on Tuesday and seized Rs 4.65 lakh from him.
During searches at his government quarters in Nimapada, the crew discovered additional Rs 50,000.
Simultaneous searches are being conducted on his Cuttack homes and his hometown of Dhanmandal in the Kendrapara district.
