Jajpur: On Sunday, a 14-year-old girl was discovered hanging in suspicious circumstances at her school in Badabalikuda, Badachana block, in Odisha's Jajpur district, with her family saying that she was murdered.
While the specific cause of the minor girl's death has yet to be determined, insiders believe it was the result of a love affair.
According to accounts, the girl and her claimed boyfriend attempted suicide by hanging together. Despite the fact that the girl perished, the boy was saved due to his large body weight.
Pankaj Rout, the girl's father, said that his daughter was murdered on purpose. "I had asked both my daughter and the youngster to stay away from each other about two months ago," he added, adding that the boy was presumably angry after the warning.
The girl went missing on Saturday evening and was not found until late at night, despite a frantic search by family members and villagers. However, the event was discovered in the early hours of the morning, and police notified Rout.
A crew from the Balichandrapur police station raced to the scene, collected the body, and transported it for a post-mortem examination.
The youngster was held for questioning, and an investigation is underway, according to police, who added that a complete picture will emerge once the post-mortem report is received.
