Sonepur: On late Saturday night, a man who had set up an electrical trap to catch wild pigs got into contact with it and perished in the district.

According to sources, Harishchandra Pradhan of Baghapalli village, under the jurisdiction of Birmaharajpur police station, set up a wire trap in the forest near his hamlet to hunt wild boar during the day. Wild boars, which are widespread in the area, are hunted illegally for their flesh, which is in high demand.

Pradhan went out late at night to see if any boars had been trapped in the trap. He tried to see if the trap was working because he couldn't find any animals being caught. According to the sources, he died of electrocution on the spot after touching the live wires.

On Sunday morning, the villagers discovered Pradhan's body and reported it to the police.

Local police and forest officials arrived on the scene and took the deceased for a post-mortem examination. More research is being carried out.
